- January 8, 2002, President Bush signed into law the NCLB Act, the
massive federal education policy initiative that impacts almost all
aspects of public education.
- The new law poses enormous challenges for SC and other states. It demands major progress from year to
year in raising test scores in reading and math. The test score gap must be narrowed
advantaged and disadvantaged students and between all subgroups of
students.
