Daniel Martin, secretary of the Lexington School District Four school board, was elected as Region 9 Director of the South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA) during the association’s annual business meeting Saturday, Dec. 2.  Martin was appointed to the board as the Region 9 Director in January to fill a vacancy. Martin’s first four-year term will run from 2017-2021. Region Nine includes Lexington 1, 2, 3, 4 and Richland/Lexington Five school districts.

The annual business meeting, which was held during the association’s Legislative Advocacy Conference, included voting delegates from most of the state’s 81 school boards. In addition to the election of association officers, delegates adopt resolutions to guide the association during the 2018 legislative session.

Martin has served on the Lexington Four board for seven years and currently serves as the board secretary. He is a strong advocate of parental involvement in our schools. He has been greatly involved in the “Profile of a South Carolina Graduate” and “TransformSC” programs and partnerships.
