Teacher Cabinet Meeting

Fundraiser Approval

SHS presented six fundraisers that include requests from: The Science Olympiad Team, Student Council, Beta Club, Yearbook Staff, HOSA, and Art club. 

A fundraiser for FMIS was approved so that the special education classroom can purchase equipment and participate in a Special Olympic luncheon.

The ECC requested to participate in a fundraiser from Spartan Mktg. to purchase school supplies.

School Updates

Freshman Academy- Awarded gold/purple cards for second nine weeks.  One hundred twenty- one students are on track for possible scholarships. 

Swansea High School- Justin Helms made all-region in wrestling.  The Wrestling team is the Region 5 AA Champs.  Several students recently received awards for achievements with the band.  Matthew Kneece was accepted to the West Point Summer Camp.  Many students presented at the recent Beta Club Convention in Myrtle Beach and several won awards.  The Miss Swansean pageant was a success.  This year they added the Miss Amazing pageant which was featured on WLTX.

Sandhills Elementary School-Students are actively participating in a monthly morning show, which the teacher cabinet members were able to view.  Later in the month a Family Science Night will be hosted.

Sandhills Primary School-Each classroom has adopted a “grandcub” from the local senior citizen center.  They visit the school once a month to read with children.

Sandhills Middle School-TABE test results have shown an increase in scores.  A pancake breakfast is being planned to recognize spring athletes.  Planning has begun for an upcoming talent show.  For the third nine weeks assembly there will be a Teacher-Student basketball game.  A math night for parents and students is being planned.

Early Childhood Center-During parent-teacher conferences families will also be able to participate in a community resource fair.  Local churches, businesses and agencies will be there to pass out information and supplies.  PALS continues to have a high number of participants.  A Spanish PALS has been added, totaling six days of workshops.  Learning at the Hands of Our Children will take place during February.  Students will have the opportunity to teach their parents lessons in the classroom.  A variety of trees have been planted around the grounds as part of a beautification project.

Teacher Forum

Current Teacher of the Year winners have been meeting with induction teachers to talk about any challenges they are facing and to answer any questions they may have.
