2010-2011 SCHOOL REALIGNMENT

The Lexington Four Early Childhood Center, housing all three, four, and five-year olds, will open in the fall of 2010 as part of a long-range building plan.  The second phase of that plan was to build a freshman academy which was to relieve the overcrowding at Swansea High School.  However, due to declining student enrollment, there will be a reorganization of schools, as opposed to building a new freshman academy.  These shifts will allow the district to postpone facilities planning until there is significant growth in student enrollment.  Each of the facilities will be renovated to accomodate the development of the student population being housed in the building.  Many of the renovation projects increase safety throughout the district.
